Get to know Dr. Reid Chaney
Dr. Reid Chaney didn't just end up in Harrisburg by chance — he came home. Originally from Kannapolis, Dr. Chaney knew early on that he wanted a career in medicine, and by high school, dentistry had become his focus. After graduating from A.L. Brown High School in 1998, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill, then completed his dental training at Boston University School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2007. From there, the path led right back to Cabarrus County, exactly where he wanted to be.
Dr. Chaney brings nearly two decades of clinical experience to every patient interaction, with particular expertise in dental implants, Invisalign, and in-house same-day crowns. He is Invisalign certified, All-on-Four implant certified, and a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He has also completed a Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency, expanding his ability to serve patients with sleep-related concerns. His commitment to continued learning means you're always benefiting from some of the most current techniques and technology available.
What sets Dr. Chaney apart isn't just his credentials, it's his philosophy. He believes that the best dental care happens when you truly understand what matters most to your patient. He takes time to get to know the people in his chair, not just their chart. That personal approach is what drives his passion for being a dentist: making a real difference, one patient at a time.
Outside the office, Dr. Chaney is a husband and father of two. He and his wife Ashelea have been married since 2006, and together they cheer on their son Colson and daughter Baylor at soccer games and dance competitions. When he's not with his family, you can usually find him on the golf course.

Dr. Lauren Mauban
Dr. Lauren Mauban
Dr. Lauren Mauban brings energy, advanced training, and a genuine love of dentistry to the Smile Cabarrus team. Raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from East Carolina Unversity before receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health. Prior to joining our practice, Dr. Mauban practiced in Austin, Texas, where she focused on delivering compassionate, personalized care and helping patients feel comfortable throughout their dental experience.
Dr. Mauban is passionate about serving her community and helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. She is dedicated to creating a comfortable and welcoming environment where patients feel heard, respected, and at ease throughout their dental experience. By combining compassionate care with the latest advancements in dentistry, Dr. Mauban strives to provide high-quality, personalized treatment tailored to each patient's unique needs.

Michele
Practice Administrator
Michele has been a friendly face at Smile Cabarrus since 2011 and has over 20 years of dental experience. She has worked as our Hygiene/Treatment and Insurance Coordinator before taking on her current role as office administrator. Michele enjoys interacting and building relationships with our patients and staff. When not in the office, you can find her spending time with her son, close friends, crafting or quite possibly at a Bon Jovi concert!
Rikki
Insurance Coordinator
Rikki was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio but has been calling Kannapolis home since 2013. Rikki may look familiar to many of you, she started with Smile Cabarrus in 2016 and then transferred to our Smile Kannapolis office for a few years. Fortunately for all of us, she is now back in Harrisburg, and we couldn’t be happier! Rikki has over 20 years’ experience in the dental field. Rikki’s favorite part of the day is interacting with her patients and making them smile, but she also specializes in dental insurance. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, reading novels, taking long walks, exploring social media for her daily dose of amusement and spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Jo Lynn
Patient Care Coordinator
Jo Lynn’s smiling face and warm welcome are the first things you will encounter upon entering Smile Cabarrus. She may look familiar to some of you since she worked at our Concord location (Zsambeky, Chaney & Associates) years ago. We were fortunate enough to have her come back “home” after a few years absence. She has been in dentistry for over 20 years and brings with her a wealth of knowledge. In her spare time Jo Lynn loves to spend time with her husband, Mason, and her very spoiled Shitzu, Max.
Didi
Patient Care Coordinator
Passionate about the overall health and wellness of others, Didi’s background is rich in the medical and dental fields. Prior to her dental administrative and finance background, she also has experience in Ultrasound Repair, Dental X-ray Customer Service, and teaching yoga. Outside of the office, you can find Didi enjoying hikes in nature, reading, yoga and spending time with her loved ones.
Brittany B
RDH
Brittany graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Central Piedmont community college in 2015. Since then, she has expanded her knowledge to provide the best care possible for her patients. She prides herself on making them feel comfortable during their dental visits. When not at work, some of Brittany’s hobbies include bee keeping, playing pickleball, and spending time with family, friends, & her dog Georgia!
Makayla
DAII
Makayla began her dental career in 2020 as she graduated from the dental assisting program at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. Makayla worked at and absolutely enjoyed working with children at a pediatric office before joining our team at Smile Cabarrus. Makayla continues to love working with children but she had a desire to expand her knowledge base to general dentistry so that she can help patients of any age. We are so lucky that Smile Cabarrus is the practice she has chosen to grow with! You will see Makayla’s friendly face and contagious smile as she works closely with our hygienists during your wellness visits. When she is not taking x-rays, flossing or polishing your teeth you can find Makayla at the beach soaking up the sun or having fun with her friends and family.
Brittany S
DAII / Social Media Marketing
Brittany has been an DAII/Expanded Function Dental Assistant since 2016, and with Smile Cabarrus since April of 2022. She graduated from RCCC with not only a DAII Certification, but an associate degree in Medical Office Administration. She spent 5 years working in public health dentistry where she used her skills and knowledge to give back to the community and volunteer for multiple free dental clinics. In 2020 she graduated from Siena Heights University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Management. She thrives on always improving her education to better treat and educate her patients. Brittany is not only one of Dr. Chaney’s assistants, but she is also our Social Media/Marketing Extraordinaire! When not in the office, Brittany enjoys interior decorating, organizing, crafting, and baking, On the weekends you may find her spending time on the lake with her husband, fishing, or riding stand up paddleboards!

Lauren attended the Dental Assisting Academy to become a dental assistant in 2022. We were thrilled to have her join our team in 2023. Lauren challenges herself to continually learn and improve upon her skill set so she can provide the very best care for her patients. Lauren loves to get warm and cozy, while enjoying a good mystery book curled up on the couch. When she isn’t reading she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking or golfing with her husband.

DAII
Iraj started her dental assisting career upon graduating from CPCC in 2018. She joined our team in August of 2023 and makes it her mission to improve your day. She enjoys trying out new restaurants, exploring hiking trails, cosmetology and traveling near and far. She enjoys getting to know each of her patients personally while providing a comfortable environment in which they receive their dental care.
Rachel Casale
RDH
Rachel has been working in dentistry for six years, beginning her career as a dental assistant before becoming a dental hygienist three years ago. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from NC State University before finding her passion in the dental field. Rachel enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and confident while providing personalized care for their smiles. Outside of the office, she loves spending time with friends, playing with her dog, Lola, and getting creative with crafting projects.

From stocking the shelves of the Harrisburg Food Pantry with toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss, to donating gift baskets at local events, our team finds meaningful ways to invest in the community around them.
Dr. Chaney serves on the board of the Community Free Clinic and the local Boys and Girls Club, and as a volunteer on the dental bus during its stop in Kannapolis, bringing care directly to those who need it most.
Every year, during Dental Health Month, we visit our local schools to educate children on the importance of dental hygiene, helping to create a positive view of maintaining their oral health.

Same-Day Crowns with CEREC
Gone are the days of temporary crowns and return visits. Using our CEREC Primescan and in-house milling unit, we can design, fabricate, and place a permanent crown in a single appointment. That means less time in the chair, no waiting weeks for a lab, and a result that's precise and custom-made just for you.
Digital scanners for impressions
Say goodbye to the goopy impression trays of the past. Using our iTero, Trios, and Primescan digital scanners, we capture highly accurate digital impressions that are more comfortable for you, and more precise for us. Whether we're planning a restoration or monitoring your clear aligner progress, digital impressions help make the process faster, more accurate, and more comfortable.
CBCT for 3D visuals and implant planning
Our cone beam CT (CBCT) unit allows us to see your anatomy in full three-dimensional detail, something traditional X-rays simply can't offer. This technology is especially valuable for implant planning, helping us map out the most precise and predictable treatment possible before a single step is taken.

Our waiting area is stocked with complimentary coffee, water, and a TV to help you settle in before your appointment. For our younger patients, we have coloring pages and crayons ready to go, because the little things make a big difference.
Comfort in the chair
We know some patients feel anxious about dental visits, and we take that seriously. Blankets, pillows, and water are available in every operatory.
